The James River Green Building Council has established several ways to promote green building in the Central Virginia region and to allow involvement by all sectors of the building industry and public. We have developed three program area: educational offerings, social events, and award programs and will continue to develop additional programs such as emerging green builders in the near future.
We are always looking for suggestions on what our memebership and the community would like to see in an upcoming program.
Educational Programs
Our educational programs include a luncheon series, site tours of green buildings in the area, and workshops for LEED and sustainaible building training. Check our calendar for dates and links to help register or RSVP for these programs.
Awards Programs
The JRGBC currently offers three programs to recognize and encourage leaders in our region for their green building efforts. The JRGBC Leadership Awards is a luncheon program to recognize organizations and their leaders. The Virginia Go Green Competition and Awards Forum recognizes built and unbuilt projects in Virginia or by Virginia professionals. The High Performance Building Grant Program awards grants to affordable housing and K-12 educational projects in design or under construction in Central Virginia.
Social Programs
Green Drinks is a simple and unstructured event where people interested in sustainability can get together to meet others, network, talk shop, learn something new, share something innovative or maybe even find a job! It's a great time to chat with people you know as well as make new acquaintances. Everyone is welcome and is also welcome to invite others. JRGBC sponsors this event on the last Thursday of every month (excluding December).
REFUND POLICY
The JRGBC will credit back 100% of the registration fee to any of its events if notice of the cancellation is received five business days before the event date. Refunds will not be granted after this time. However, substitutions are allowed.
