Leadership Awards 2008

Fourth Annual JRGBC Green Leadership Awards Luncheon: Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

The James River Green Building Council’s Fourth Annual Green Building Leadership Awards Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, November 19th at VHDA’s Virginia Housing Center.  Every November, the JRGBC honors organizations and their leaders for outstanding contributions to green building in Virginia.

In conjunction with the Awards Luncheon, the JRGBC hosts a large number of displays to showcase products, services and companies that participate in green building. This year’s location, the Virginia Housing Center, will provide expanded display space and extended hours to ensure we reach a large audience of industry leaders as well as the general public.

This event has something for everyone, from the industry experts on sustainable building and design to first timers seeking education and information on going green.

Last Year's Awards

The 2007 JRGBC Green Leadership Awards Luncheon was a great success, with about 200 attendees on hand to hear keynote speaker Dennis Creech, Executive Director of Souhtface Energy Institute. After the luncheon, the attendees and general public were able to view the displays and exhibits in and around the Rotunda at the Science Museum of Virginia. Over 30 exhibitors were on hand to show green products. This full-day of Living Green was possible with the partnership of Style Weekly and concluded with Style Weekly’s Reader Poll Green Hero Emerald Awards for individuals who have made significant contributions to the environment. The JRGBC is very proud of its own Karl Bren who received the first award.

The JRGBC Board wishes to thank everyone for attending and congratulates the following winners in the four Green Building Leadership categories. The winners were selected from nominations and based on the organization’s / individual’s commitment to the JRGBC’s principles of sustainable and environmentally conscious building.

Non-Profit: Virginia Habitat for Humanity
Government: Virginia Department of Transportation
Private Sector: Scandia USA
Individual: Governor Tim Kaine
